Hội Phụ Nữ Việt Nam tại Calgary (CAVWA hay Hội Phụ nữ Calgary) xuất phát từ một nhóm bạn phụ nữ Việt Nam có mong muốn có một sân chơi cho phụ nữ Việt Nam tại Calgary vào năm 2009, chủ yếu là để có bạn bè nói tiếng Việt và giao lưu. Nhóm họp hàng tháng trong khoảng hai năm tại Trung tâm dành cho người mới đến. Bảy thành viên nhóm đã quyết định kết hợp theo hành động xã hội vào ngày 8 tháng 8 năm 2011.

Hội Phụ Nữ Việt được chính thức ra mắt cộng đồng Calgary vào ngày 17 tháng 12 năm 2011 với sự chứng kiến ​​của hơn 250 bạn bè Việt Nam tại Calgary Việt Nam. Tên ban đầu của Hội Phụ Nữ Việt Nam tại Calgary là Tình bạn cho Phụ Nữ Việt Nam Calgary, được đổi vào năm 2012 thành tên hiện tại là Hội Phụ Nữ Việt Nam Calgary (CAVWA hoặc Hội Phụ Nữ Calgary).
