Launched on December 8, 2018, the Vietnamese Arts, Culture and Tradition Club was created by the Calgary Vietnamese Women’s Association (CAVWA) to celebrate and preserve the richness of Vietnamese heritage. With the passion of our volunteers and the support of the community, we are committed to keeping Vietnamese culture alive for future generations while proudly sharing it with all Calgarians.

In 2024, we proudly represented the Vietnamese community at the Calgary Stampede Parade for the first time, and officially introduced our new group identity and branding: Vietnamese Essence.

Why Arts and Culture?

As highlighted in our opening remarks:
“Art is what drives us to be creative. Art defines a culture because culture is a pattern of behaviours, ideas, and values shared by a group of people. Arts play a valued role in creating cultures, developing and documenting civilizations. Arts teach us how to communicate through creative expression; show us how to understand human experiences past and present; and prepare us to adapt to and respect the ways others think, work, and express themselves.”

Through this club, we aim to foster creativity, preserve Vietnamese traditions, and create bridges across communities by “speaking the same language in arts” — a language with no barriers.
